Yes! HungerHunter is completely free for diners. Restaurant owners can choose from various subscription plans to access premium features.
How do I get started?
Simply sign up for a free account, complete your foodie profile with your dietary preferences and favorite cuisines, and start exploring restaurants near you!
Using the App
How do I check in at a restaurant?
When you arrive at a restaurant, open the app and tap the "Check In" button. Make sure location services are enabled. You'll earn XP and progress on any active quests!
Can I write reviews without checking in?
Yes, but you'll earn more XP and rewards by checking in first. Reviews from verified visits also carry more weight in our recommendation system.
How do food preferences work?
Set your dietary restrictions (vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free, etc.) and favorite cuisines in your profile. We'll prioritize restaurants that match your preferences in recommendations.
Rewards & Gamification
How do I earn XP?
You earn XP by:
- Checking in at restaurants (50 XP)
- Writing detailed reviews (100 XP)
- Uploading photos (25 XP each)
- Completing quests (varies by quest)
- Getting likes on your reviews (10 XP each)
What are quests?
Quests are challenges that encourage you to explore new restaurants and cuisines. Examples include "Try 5 New Cuisines," "Visit 3 Food Trucks," or restaurant-specific promotions.
How do levels work?
As you earn XP, you'll level up from Street Food Explorer to Culinary Connoisseur and beyond. Higher levels unlock exclusive perks and rewards at participating restaurants.
What rewards can I get?
Rewards vary by restaurant but can include:
- Free appetizers or desserts
- Percentage discounts
- Priority seating
- Exclusive menu items
- Special event invitations
Privacy & Safety
Is my location data safe?
We only use your location to show nearby restaurants and verify check-ins. Location data is never sold or shared with third parties. You can control location permissions in your device settings.
Can I delete my account?
Yes, you can request account deletion at any time. Visit our Data Deletion page for instructions.
Are reviews anonymous?
No, reviews are linked to your profile to maintain accountability. However, you can adjust your privacy settings to limit what information is visible to other users.
For Restaurant Owners
How do I claim my business?
Search for your restaurant on HungerHunter, click "Claim This Business," and follow the verification process. You'll need to provide proof of ownership.
What features are available for businesses?
Business accounts can:
- Update business information and hours
- Add menu items and photos
- Create special promotions and quests
- Respond to reviews
- Access analytics and insights
- Manage multiple locations
How much does a business account cost?
We offer a 14-day free trial. After that, plans start at $29/month for basic features, with premium plans available for additional functionality.
Technical Issues
The app won't let me check in. What should I do?
Make sure:
- Location services are enabled for HungerHunter
- You're within 200 feet of the restaurant
- You have a stable internet connection
- The app is updated to the latest version
I'm not receiving notifications.
Check your notification settings both in the app (Profile > Settings > Notifications) and in your device settings. Make sure HungerHunter has permission to send notifications.
